World ranking leader Novak Djokovic ended the fight ahead of schedule at the elite tournament in Monte Carlo. In the opening match for himself, the Serb lost to the 46th racket in the world – Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. The Spaniard won in three sets, with the close game only in the second one – 6:3, 6:7(1), 6:1.

However, Djokovic will retain the title of the world’s first racket after the tournament as his closest pursuers aren’t present at the event. Last year the Serb lost the third round in this event. This was only the second tournament for Novak this season.
