ITF presented winners of 2021 World Champions award

Novak Djokovic, a Serbian tennis player and recent number one in the rankings, won his seventh title as the best tennis player in the world. Ashleigh Barty, an Australian athlete, clinched the top place in the women’s race. After a year of pause, Ash retook the title, which is her second crown.

These awards are a tradition for the tennis community and among the most valuable. The winners are selected by an ITF expert panel, which takes into consideration achievements of the athletes during twelve months. These awards are an independent addition to the similar WTA and ATP rewards for the best of the best on year distance.

Djokovic was nearly unbeaten in 2021 and had added three Grand Slam trophies to his collection: the Australian Open, French Open (or Roland Garros), and Wimbledon.

Barty also added a grass crown to her collection (won the Wimbledon women’s singles) and grabbed a notable bronze medal during this year’s Olympics in a mixed doubles competition.
