Murray and Venus Williams receive a Wild Card invitation to the Australian Open


Former first rackets of the world Andy Murray and Venus Williams will receive a Wild Card invitation to join the Australian Open-2022.

According to “The West Australian” outlet, 41-year-old Williams will play in Melbourne if she can recover from her leg injury. Murray is a five-time Australian Open singles finalist. Now the Briton is ranked 134th in the ATP rankings.

Williams is a two-time Australian Open finalist in singles and four-time doubles champion. In the WTA ranking, the American occupies 318th place.

Earlier, Venus’s younger sister, Serena, refused to participate in the Australian Open and aims to return to the event later in 2022. The first Grand Slam tournament in 2022 will take place on January 17-30 after a few WTA and ATP events are held in Australia before the major competition.
