Andrey Rublev, a Russian tennis player, won the Abu Dhabi short-play competition. Rublev defeated Andy Murray, a veteran from the UK, in the final match to grab the title.
The fight lasted for an hour and a half. Rublev was able to convert one breakpoint in the first set and won it with a score of 6:4. The second set was more difficult, and everything was decided in a tie-break (7:2). Andrey added another trophy at the end of the season. Earlier in December, he took the Davis Cup with Russia and confirmed a good shape in Abu Dhabi.
Denis Shapovalov overcame a legendary Rafael Nadal in the match for third place. The Spaniard and Canadian spent nearly two hours deciding who was better.
The ex-first racket in the world won the first set, but Shapovalov retained the second one. In the super tie-break, the Canadian proved that he is not accidentally in the top-10 of the ATP rankings at the moment. Want to know more about latest tennis news and don’t miss the important news?
