Sakkari beat Sabalenka and reached the semifinals of the WTA Final tournament


WTA Finals. Group round. Third round, Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus, 1) – Maria Sakkari (Greece, 4) – 1:2 (6:7 (1), 7:6 (8), 3:6).

Maria Sakkari defeated the first-seeded Aryna Sabalenka on her way to the semifinals of the WTA Finals. The match lasted two hours and 50 minutes, during which time Sakkari served eight aces and converted eight of the 13 breakpoints. Sakkari achieved her second career win over Sabalenka, beating the Greek in their four previous matches.

Sakkari advanced to the WTA Finals semifinals from second place in the group won by Spaniard Paula Badosa and will compete for a place in the final with Anett Kontaveit.
