Swiatek has won the tournament in Indian Wells and will be the second racket in the world


The final of the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells took place on Sunday. Poland’s Iga Swiatek (№4 WTA) beat Greek Maria Sakkari (№6 WTA) in two sets, winning her fifth career title.

The game lasted not so long, with the opposition from Sakkari only in the first set (6:4). The second set finished pretty easy for Swiatek – 6:1. Note that Swiatek won the fifth final in a row. The last three were WTA 1000 categories.

Sakkari fought for such a big title for the first time; now, she has lost four of the five finals in her career. In the new version of the ranking, both athletes will enter the top 3 of the world rankings. Iga will make her debut as the second racket, Maria – will be third for the first time.
