Swiatek will guarantee WTA\s #1 spot if she wins at least one match in Miami

The retirement of Ashleigh Barty brought new issues to the women’s rating. While the recent second place, Iga Swiatek, will claim the lead in WTA rankings, it can lose it after the near tournament in Miami.

At the same time, it’s unlikely to happen. Being the first seeded on the event, she’ll receive the lowest-ranked opponent in the main stage. And only one victory will mean that the Polish tennis player will be the leader in WTA’s ladder.

However, the Spanish athlete Paula Badosa also has chances to reach the top position after Miami comes to an end.

Thus, Paula has to win the event in the US and hope for Swiatek to lose her initial fight in Miami.  Want to know more about tennis and don’t miss the important news? Subscribe to and receive the latest updates to your email.
