The organisers of the WTA tennis tournament in Charleston have raised $100,000 in support of Ukraine amid a full-scale Russian military invasion. Participants raised $ 50,000 in support of Ukraine. The tournament organisers donated a similar amount.
In charity matches with local amateur tennis players played, the second racket of Ukraine Angelina Kalinina and Americans Madison Keys, Shelby Rogers and Jessica Pegula, among other tennis players.

The final game of the tournament was between Ons Jabeur and Belinda Bencic. The Tunisian player came to the decisive game as the fourth-seeded of the event, while the Swiss were 10th-seeded.
However, the clay court of the US city became more in favour of the theoretically weaker Bencic. She won the first set confidently – 6:1. The Tunis athlete responded by winning the second set in a tough game – 7:5. However, Bencic looked better in the final set and beat Jabeur with a score of 6:4. After the event, Jabeur rose in the WTA’s rankings by one position, and now she is ninth. The victory allowed Bencic to add eight more positions in the rating, so now the Swiss is 13th.
