WTA’s No. 1 Ashleigh Barty retires at the age of 25


The first racket of the women’s ranking, Ashleigh Barty, unexpectedly came with a pretty strange decision. The Australian announced her retirement from sports.

The 25-year-old representative of Australia said that she would now go “for new dreams.” She previously retired in 2014 but resumed performing in 2016.

The WTA’s leader of 2021 and recent number 1 seemed to be only on her way to new heights. With three Grand Slams in her career, Ashleigh Barty also won 15 WTA titles.
